Welcome to Poker Develop

Hello! We’re the Poker Develop team and our sole purpose is to help you develop your poker skills to improve your ability and enjoyment of the game. We’ve pulled together all the tools and tips that we think you’ll need in order to take your game to the next level; whether you’re a fresh-faced newbie or slightly ‘frazzled round the edges’ amateur looking to make a statement at the tables.

Develop your poker know-how

Everyone has to start somewhere when learning poker. If you’ve never played before, we can introduce you to poker’s most popular game variant, Texas Hold’Em, to get you started at the tables in no time. You may already be versed in Hold’Em and be looking for a bit of variety. No problem. We can tell you just how to mix up your game by educating you in the ways of H.O.R.S.E poker and the like which, not only will teach you more games, but make you a more well-rounded player generally.

If it’s strategic or tactical tips in a particular game that you need, check out our Poker Strategy and Poker Tactics sections. These pages are designed to show you the difference between ‘tricks’ in poker and longer term game strategies. The best poker players will always have an end-game or tournament strategy designed to throw off their opponents - looking beyond your immediate hand is essential for your survival in poker.

Develop your own style

One of the hardest elements to master in poker, is a playing style that is in no way predictable. We’ve all heard of loose, tight, aggressive, tight-aggressive players and more besides. When you’be been playing poker for a while, each of these styles is easy to spot. Sure, you will fall into one of these categories at some point but if you can mix up your playing style without sabotaging your own game, you could be onto a winner. Ironically, new players are the hardest to read as they don’t yet have a style or complete grasp of the game. Unfortunately they don’t tend to have the skill to capitalise on that potential advantage either. But, by learning how you can or should play in certain situations, you will also learn how your competitors will be thinking and playing. It will be your choice whether to bluff or manipulate a round of play and knowing the different playing techniques and styles will help you to do that more effectively. So, don your white coat and get psychological with your game for some real progress!

Stepping out of the poker psych ward and onto the tables for a moment, Poker Develop also offers you practical, nuts and bolts, poker advice such as where to find the best poker room, the best welcome bonus or live action. We also take the time to explain poker fundamentals such as rake and rakeback so that you can make sure you’re making the most money out of every game you play - even if you’re losing!

We want you to enjoy poker to its full potential and we believe much of that enjoyment will come from seeing real improvement in your game. Developing your poker skills is the only way to do that and we’re here to help you all the way!
